SBCC stands 4th in WSC Supremacy Standings going into the spring

The Western State Conference released their Supremacy Standings, which measures the overall athletic success of all 18 teams in the Western State Conference and SBCC is currently in fourth place.

The Vaqueros have the most conference championships with four while no other program has more than two.

"I am thrilled with the success our teams have had on the field this year," said Athletic Director Rocco Constantino.  "Our coaches do things the right way; they stress academics and mentor students for the next steps in their lives.  To add athletic success into that equation shows that our coaches run very well-rounded programs and our student-athletes work hard on and off the playing field."

In the fall, SBCC won conference championships in men's and women's soccer, women's golf and women's water polo, gaining 10 points in each sport in the Supremacy Standings calculations.  SBCC women's volleyball finished with a 7-1 record in the Western State Conference North, which tied with Moorpark.  The women's volleyball team earned nine points towards the supremacy standings.

To determine the Supremacy Standings, teams earn points based on where they finish in the standings for the regular season.  The total points accrued is then divided by the number of sports that school has participated in.  At the conclusion of the year, teams are also awarded points based on GPA.

Last year, LA Mission won their first WSC Supremacy Award with Ventura finishinig second while SBCC finished third.
