SBCC Vaqueros Hall of Fame Shaping Up To Be A Special Night

On May 25, SBCC Athletics will be holding their first SBCC Vaqueros Hall of Fame event and according to Director of Athletics Rocco Constantino, the evening is shaping up to be a special night.

"We have had many people working hard on this all year and with the event just two weeks away, we're excited to see how it turns out," said Constantino.

The inaugural Hall of Fame Class will consist of coach/administrators Bob Dinaberg, Pat Moorhouse and Bud Revis, athletes Marina Gomez, Debbie Ekola, Booker Brown and Gary Woods and the 1977 Women's Track and Field State Championship Team.

The event is scheduled for a 5:00pm start on May 25 at the SBCC Campus Center.

John Martony, who is the radio broadcaster for SBCC Football and Santa Barbara Foresters baseball, will serve as the emcee for the evening.

The evening features a reception starting at 5:00pm, a buffet dinner, silent auction and raffle prizes throughout the event.

"We hope to make this a fun and memorable event for all who attend," said Constantino. "There are so many fantastic coaches, athletes, administrators and supporters who are a part of the Vaqueros history, so we want to make this an annual tradition; something that is highly anticipated every year."

Some tickets are still available for the event and can be purchased in advance of the event for $40. To purchase tickets, contact Athletics Administrative Assistant Ashley Farias (amfarias1@sbcc.edu or 805-965-0581 ext. 2276). Tickets will also be on sale at the door, providing the evening does not sell out.

SBCC Athletics also has an online fundraising campaign to help support the event as well. Those interested in donating could click here to access the online fundraising campaign for the event.

The event is sponsored by Pegasus Transit along with Tremblay Financial. Constantino would also like to recognize PlanMember Securities Corporation, Sharky's Woodfired Mexican Grill, Best Western Beachside Inn, Elite Island Resorts, the Santa Barbara Foresters and Hugs for Cubs for their support as well.

Signature FUN-Raising will be providing sports memorabilia for a silent auction. There will be other silent auction items as well, including vacation packages in the Caribbean, Panama and Las Vegas, Los Angeles Dodgers tickets and other fantastic items. The tickets and programs for the event were provided by Pacific Press.

Constantino also acknowledged Kingstone Entertainment for creating videos for each inductee and Catering Connection for providing food and services for the evening.

"An athletics Hall of Fame has been long overdue for SBCC and now that it is taking place, we want to make it special," said Constantino. "I really believe this is shaping up to be a fantastic night and I know for many people there, it will be something they remember for the rest of their lives."
