Trunk or Treat a Huge Success for the Vaqueros!

10/27/2023, Santa Barbara City College Great Meadow

The Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros 5th Annual Trunk or Treat event was held Thursday, October 27th and served over 300 community children this year. The evening is spearheaded by the Athletic Department's Ashley Farias and supported by a group effort of all athletic staff and teams on campus.

Supported by donations from The Resource SB and the Santa Barbara City College Foundation, the event featured The Bubble Guy, free tacos from Gloria's Gourmet Kitchen, Pixel Photo Booth, Face Painting by Maria and Reggae music by Forbidden Fruit. Board of Trustees members Jonathan Abboud and Dr. Anna Everett were also present.

The event ran from 5-7 PM and was a great chance for our student athletes to showcase their decorating and costume talents, as well as give community children a chance to interact with them and their incredible energy.

From Women's Basketball Coach, Sandrine Krul:

"One parent said, 'We have visited all the cars and all the athletes made my kid feel so special.' Of course I added, that's what we do at SBCC!"

From parent Alexandra Thierjung, Administrative Assistant IIIC to Vice President:

"I just have to say that this event was absolutely amazing. We stayed until it was over because my kids were having so much fun - the music, the vibe, the view, the moon, the food, the bubbles, the happy students - I don't know of any other better Halloween event in town!!!!! Not to mention all the student athletes grouping up to play kickball, pop volleyball and laughing - my kids just sat there and watched all the big kids with a smile on their face. Magical is all that comes to mind. This will be our annual event as a family. I'm so glad I was finally able to come.

AMAZING JOB, ASHLEY! The people with their dogs, everybody saying hi to the little kids, the big kids playing sports, and the energy of our athletes for the event; all of it made me really feel like this is why we love City College so much."
