Athletic Training Staff


Susan Houlihan-Davis

Susan has been an athletic trainer at Santa Barbara City College since 1994. She also is adjunct faculty and runs the Athletic Training Student Work Experience Program.
 
She is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training. Her graduate work was also done at CSULB in Sports Medicine/Sports Injury. In Susan’s free time, she enjoys watching her son, Stephen play sports. Her hobbies are reading, going to the beach and walking around Santa Barbara. She resides in Goleta with her husband and son.



Joseph Farias

Joseph, an alumni of SBCC, rejoins the Vaquero family after coming to SBCC from Antelope Valley College where he was an Assistant Athletic Trainer. 

He is a graduate of California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training and a Master's in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his Athletic Training educational background, Joseph has clinical experience in working for one of Santa Barbara’s top orthopedic physical therapy offices for over six years.

In Joseph’s free time, he enjoys playing ice hockey, working out and spending time with his family and friends. He resides in Santa Barbara with his wife, Ashley and daughter Ava.




 

Julianna Adelman      jtadelman@pipeline.sbcc.edu

Julianna started her journey at SBCC in 2014 as a student-athlete and student athletic trainer. She completed her bachelor's in Athletic Training in 2019 at CSU Fullerton and her master's in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Rehabilitation Science at Pennsylvania Western University in 2023. Prior to returning to the Vaqueros, Julianna served as an athletic trainer at other community colleges and high schools throughout California. 
 
In her free time, Julianna enjoys frisbee golfing, hiking, and spending time with her friends and family. 
We are grateful to have her on our team!
 
 


Support Staff



** Dr. Matthew Pifer is the Orthopedic Surgeon for SBCC. He supervises the Athletic Training Room and evaluates the student-athletes orthopedic injuries. He has been the team physician since 2017.


** Elite Rehabilitation is our go-to therapist for post-surgical rehabilitation as well as the support of the entire group during physical screenings four times per year.
