Vaqueros rally to stay perfect at 7-0

SBCC spotted Antelope Valley five runs on Thursday, then scored six in the fourth inning on the way to a 12-7 baseball victory in Lancaster.

The Vaqueros remained undefeated at 7-0, thanks to season highs in runs and hits (17). SBCC, the last unbeaten team in Southern Cal, is averaging 9 runs a game and giving up 4.1.

Catcher Patrick O'Brien (pictured) had a big day, going 4-6 with a double and four RBIs. Brandon Evans drilled a three-run triple in the fourth inning and Matthew Gimenez went 3-4 with an RBI.

Santa Barbara's ace left-hander Tyler Gilbert (3-0) earned the victory, giving up five runs in five innings (three earned). He allowed five hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.

"We came out a little flat against the game and it let us know about it," said Vaquero coach Jeff Walker. "We did a good job of showing resiliency."

The same teams will meet on Saturday in a 1 p.m. game at Pershing Park.
