Vaqueros held to three hits in 3-0 loss at Ventura

Adisson Pelupessy tossed a three-hitter on Tuesday, leading Ventura to a 3-0 shutout of SBCC in a WSC North baseball game at Ventura.

Pelupessy, a freshman right-hander from Buena High, struck out three and walked none to improve to 2-0. He lowered his ERA to 1.33. Lucas Jacobsen went five innings for the Vaqueros and gave up three runs (two earned) in the fourth on two doubles, a walk, an RBI groundout and an RBI single.

No. 7 SBCC fell to 12-5 overall and 5-4 in conference. Ventura improved to 5-13 and 2-7. The Vaqueros have been shut out in three of their last five games.

Brandon Evans and Connor McManigal had doubles for Santa Barbara.

"Their guy threw strikes, mixed his off-speed stuff and kept us off-balance," said SBCC coach Jeff Walker. "Their record doesn't indicate how talented they are."

The same teams will clash on Thursday in a 2:30 p.m. game at Pershing Park.
