Three SBCC pitchers combined on a three-hitter on Saturday as the Vaqueros routed Napa Valley 13-2 in a baseball game at Pershing Park.

Jayden Metz went the first four innings and allowed two unearned runs on two hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Ian Churchill, a freshman left-hander from San Marcos High, tossed the next four frames, allowing just one hit and fanning six. Jake Holton moved over from third base to pitch the ninth inning.

Leadoff hitter Reinhard Lautz went 4-4 with an RBI and four runs. John Jensen was 2-3 with three RBIs and Mitchell Sancier, Phil Quartararo and Shane Hersh added two hits apiece.

The Vaqueros (2-0) scored 13 runs and notched 13 strikeouts.

Leading 3-2 in the fourth, Santa Barbara added a pair of runs. Hersh was hit by a pitch, went to third on a single by Lautz and scored on a wild pitch. Jensen hit a sacrifice fly to left to make it 5-2.

SBCC scored three more in the sixth to boost the margin to 8-2. Lautz had an RBI single, Jensen delivered an RBI double and Patrick Caulfield had a sacrifice fly to center field.

The Vaqueros have scored 10 and 13 runs in their first two games and they're batting .365 while holding the opponents to .188.
