SBCC built a 11-0 lead after six innings on Saturday and went on to beat Cerro Coso 11-4 in a non-conference baseball game in Ridgecrest.

The Vaqueros showed no ill effects from the 3½-hour bus ride as they tied their season high of 17 hits. First baseman Jacob Bravo went 3-3 with two RBIs and three runs. He belted a solo homer in the second and drove in Pat Caulfield with a double in the third.

Boston Hubbard was 3-6 with two RBIs and Joshua Perlmutter went 2-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Ian Churchill, a former San Marcos High star, pitched five innings of shutout ball to improve to 3-0. The sophomore left-hander held the Coyotes (12-4) to two hits and struck out five while walking two.

The Vaqueros scored six times in the fifth to go up 10-0. Mason Metcalfe had an RBI single, Holets walked with the bases loaded, then Hubbard delivered a two-RBI double and Perlmutter followed with a two-run triple.

Cerro Coso scored four runs with two outs in the ninth and they were all unearned.

The Vaqueros will open their 20-game WSC North schedule with three games this week. Tuesday's home game vs. Ventura has been moved up a day to Monday at Ventura to get ahead of the rain and because SBCC's field is unplayable. The Vaqueros will play on Monday, March 4 at Ventura College and SBCC will be the home team. First pitch at 2 p.m.
