Coach Walker enters his 12th season as head coach of the Vaqueros in 2023. He's had great success in his time at the helm, winning five WSC Coach of the Year awards and guiding SBCC to 10 straight Southern Cal Regional appearances, five WSC North titles and fifth-place finishes in the State in 2014 and 2015.

SBCC won its fifth WSC title under Walker in 2023, advancing to the CCCAA Super Regionals before finishing with a 29-16 overall and 17-7 conference record. Sophomore left-handed pitcher Aiden Garza was named WSC Pitcher of the Year and nine Vaqueros were named All-Conference.

The Vaqueros caught fire at the end of the 2019 campaign, winning their last eight conference games to claim a share of their fifth WSC North title in the last nine years. Left-hander Ian Churchill (8-2, 1.96 ERA, 6th in state with 98 strikeouts), who got a scholarship to Arizona, was named the State Pitcher of the Year.

Walker's overall record is 186-135 (.579). He's 105-63 in WSC North play with four conference championships, four runner-up finishes and four Coach of the Year honors.

Walker has sent 102 Vaqueros to four-year schools, including 20 from the 2015 team that went 33-11, and 12 were drafted by Major League teams.

The 2015 pitching staff, led by All-Southern Cal choice Sean Barry and Justin Bruce, was No. 2 in the state and set a school record with a 2.21 ERA. The Vaqueros went 33-11, coming up one victory shy of the State Final Four. Catcher James Hill, the WSC North co-MVP, became the eighth All-American in school history and the third in three years.

Jeff guided the 2014 Vaqueros to the best postseason in school history, finishing 5th in the state with a 27-15 record. The Vaqueros earned their fourth straight trip to the Southern Cal Regional and posted 2-0 series wins over San Bernardino Valley and L.A. Mission before falling to No. 2 seed Oxnard in the Sectional series.

Santa Barbara went 11-9 and took second in the tough WSC North, which sent four teams to the Final 8 in Southern California. Pitchers Kit Larson and Justin Bruce made first-team All-WSC and six others were named to the all-conference team. Larson, a freshman reliever, became the seventh Vaquero to earn All-American honors.

Jeff came to SBCC in 2012 from Loyola Marymount, where he earned all-conference honors and was an assistant coach for three years. In 2009, he was the head coach of the Peninsula Oilers in the prestigious Alaska Summer League in 2009. He previously spent two years as an assistant coach at Ohlone College in Fremont. In his time at Ohlone, the Renegades led the state in stolen bases, qualified for the state playoffs and were one of the top hitting clubs in California.

In his first year with the Vaqueros, Walker led his club to a share of the WSC North title and a spot in the Southern Cal Regional. He was named WSC North Coach of the Year.

In 2013, the Vaqueros finished 2nd in the WSC North, qualifying for the postseason for a third straight year for the first time in school history. The 2013 Vaqueros led the conference in nearly every offensive category -- batting average, HRs, RBIs, runs, on-base percentage, slugging % and also led the state in stolen bases.

Jeff was the baseball coach and athletic director at Saratoga High for five years (2002-06). In 2005, he was named Central Coast Section Athletic Director of the Year after overseeing the fundraising and development of the school's athletic fields. He also worked as a scout for the Colorado Rockies and spent four summers coaching in NCAA-sanctioned leagues.

He's coached more than 100 players who have been drafted or signed by professional baseball teams, including 10 that made it to the big leagues. Three of those players made their Major League debuts in the summer of 2014 -- Red Patterson, Christian Bergman and Chad Smith.

Walker was an all-section outfielder at St. Francis High in Mountain View. He went on to earn all-state honors at Canada College in Redwood City and still holds the record for homers in a season (18). His Canada teams won two conference titles and reached the State Final Four in 1998. He played two years for Loyola Marymount, earning all-conference honors and helping the Lions capture a WCC title in 2000. Walker got his B.A. from Loyola Marymount in history and has Master's degrees in Education and Exercise Science.

Jeff lives in Santa Barbara with his wife, Erika, and their young daughter, Samantha.
