Presidio Sports story on Team of the Month

The Vaqueros went 4-0 in October to improve to 7-1 on the season. They're tied for first in the American Pacific League at 5-0 and play at Santa Monica (5-0) in a first-place battle on Saturday at 1 p.m.

You can listen to the game on AM 1290 radio or on the Internet with John Martony calling the action.

Santa Monica is the No. 3 scoring team in the state, averaging 46.4 points. Santa Barbara averages 34.1 and its defense is No. 8 in the state, allowing just 19 points a game.

The Vaqueros are ranked No. 14 in Southern Cal and the Corsairs (5-3, 5-0) are 18th.

Marvin Millett made his first start at running back last week and piled up 137 yards on 7 carries (19.6 average) with TD runs of 58 and 51 yards in a 49-21 win at Antelope Valley. SBCC won the 4th quarter 29-0, after getting inspiration from a blocked FG by Khaliel Ahmed Shegog and a blocked punt by Sage Ritchie.

The Vaqueros tied a 39-year-old single-season school record with their 7th straight win last week. The all-time record for win streak is 8 in a row by the 1975-76 teams.

The Vaqueros will play their home finale on Nov. 15 vs. Glendale, also at 1 p.m.
