Foster, Buri are offensive, defensive MVPs at football banquet

Nick Foster was chosen as offensive MVP and Andreas Buri landed the defensive MVP award during the SBCC football banquet on Dec. 3 at the Endless Summer Bar & Café.

Foster was one of four unanimous Vaquero selections on the first-team All-American Pacific League squad. He caught 10 passes for 191 yards (fourth on all-time list) in the season finale and led the APL in receiving with 31 catches for 462 yards and 4 TDs in five games.

The other first-teamers were offensive lineman Sage Sobrado, inside linebacker Chase Elliott, defensive end Matthew Molina and punter Martin Ahlstroem.

Buri, a second-team All-APL choice from Switzerland, led the Vaqueros with 68 tackles.

Center Jake Tourtillotte, a sophomore from Cabrillo High, was the Most Valuable Lineman. Franco De Luca, the fourth-string QB who who played the last 5½ games, received the Most Improved award. Ahlstroem, who had the best punting average in the league (35.5 yards) and made 7-14 field goals, was the Special Teams MVP.
