Ahlstroem will kick for West Virginia State

Martin Ahlstroem, an all-conference punter for the SBCC football team in 2018, has signed to kick and punt for West Virginia State, an NCAA Div. 2 school.

Ahlstroem, a sophomore from Molndal, Sweden, continues a strong tradition of outstanding Vaquero punters. He led the American Pacific League with a 35.5-yard average and had a long of 60 yards with six punts inside the 20. He was 7-14 on field goals with a long of 41 and made 17-19 PAT kicks. For his two-year career, he made 10-18 field goals and 34-36 PATs.

"West Virginia State is giving Martin a full scholarship, which is very rare but they really liked his leg strength," said SBCC coach Craig Moropoulos. "We are extremely proud of Martin and the fact that he will be continuing his academic and athletic endeavors at West Virginia State.

"He has come a long way in the two years that he has been here and he did a great job handling the kicking and punting duties."
