Ex-SBCC punter Wishnowsky picked by 49ers in 4th round of NFL Draft

Mitch Wishnowsky, an all-state punter for SBCC in 2014 and a three-time All-American at Utah, was chosen in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. The Australian was the 110th overall pick.

Wishnowsky is only the second punter drafted 110 or higher in the last 12 years. Cal punter Bryan Anger was picked by Jacksonville in the 3rd round in 2012.

In 2014, Wishnowsky was No. 1 in the American Pacific League and No. 6 in the state with a 39.8-yard punting average. His 77-yard bomb vs. L.A. Pierce was fourth-best in the state that year.

Wishnowsky led the state with 30 punts that stayed inside the 20. Six of his kicks were downed at the 1-yard line. He was also effective on converting fake punts with fourth-down runs.
