Lorenzo Goins scored 20 points on 8-10 shooting Saturday night and L.A. Pierce rode a big second half to defeat SBCC 85-40 in the men's basketball season finale for the Vaqueros at Woodland Hills.
Pierce (18-11, 9-3) took a 31-17 halftime lead and then got red-hot in the second half, hitting 64.7 percent from the field and holding the Vaqueros (4-20, 0-12) to 27.6 percent. The Brahmas drained 22-of-34 shots in the second half, including 6-11 from 3-point range. Santa Barbara was 8-29 in the final 20 minutes.
Thomas Walker topped the Vaqueros with 10 points and five boards. Alex Koutroubis had seven points and eight rebounds.
Pierce won the second half 54-23 and claimed a share of the WSC North title with Hancock and Cuesta. The Vaqueros committed 30 turnovers, leading to 42 points.
Pierce outshot the visitors 50 to 28.3 percent for the game. Jordan Fuller added 15 points and Quincy Moore had 11 points and nine rebounds.
