Hutchins, Clay are first team All-WSC North

Robert Hutchins and Ben Clay have been named first team All-WSC North in men's basketball.

Hutchins, a 6-foot sophomore guard from Bismarck, N.D., led the conference in scoring (20.8) and was No. 6 in the state. He shot 41.4 percent from the field, 38.2 percent on 3-pointers and 73.0 percent on free throws. He led the conference in steals with 2.2 per game.

    2017 All-WSC North Team

Hutchins scored 30 points three times in the 2016-17 season. His best game was on Nov. 19 when he scored a career-high 31 points with nine assists and seven steals vs. Hancock.

Clay, a 6-5 freshman from Santa Barbara High, averaged 13.2 points and was third in rebounds (9.6) in 10 conference games. Clay had four double-doubles in conference and eight for the season.

Clay scored 16 or more nine times. His best scoring game was 25 points vs. Desert and his top rebounding effort was 16 vs. Moorpark on Feb. 15.

Vida Faniel (19.5 ppg, 10.5 rpg) of conference champion Ventura was the Player of the Year. Joey Ramirez of Ventura was Coach of the Year.
