Moorpark shooting is too much for Vaqueros

Moorpark knocked down 13-of-29 from 3-point country on Wednesday night in a 90-59 men's basketball win over SBCC.

The Raiders (12-13, 4-3 WSC North) outshot the visitors 48.5% to 35.2%.

Freshman guard Zeke McMurtry led the Vaqueros (3-21, 0-7) with 20 points and 14 rebounds. It was his eighth straight double-double and 13th in 19 games this season. McMurtry, the third-leading rebounder in the state at 11.7 per game, is averaging 20.8 points and 11.8 rebounds in his last five games.

Kile Kleiner hit 4-10 on 3-pointers and added 17 points and five rebounds. Joseph Holden scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Brandon Russell and Keyan Bazargan topped the Raiders with 23 and 20 points, respectively. They combined to make 7-13 from long distance.

Moorpark led 41-25 at the half, then shot 56.3% while winning the second half 49-34.

Santa Barbara committed 23 turnovers, leading to 30 Raider points. Moorpark had just 10 turnovers.

The Vaqueros will play their next two games at home, taking on Cuesta on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Hancock on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
