SAN LUIS OBISPO – The SBCC men's basketball team lost in another close conference game on Saturday at Cuesta, falling to the Cougars by a final score of 71-65.

The Vaqueros (7-16, 2-7) got 19 and 17 points from forwards Tommy Condon and Adam Weingard, respectively. As a team, they knocked down 10-of-27 (37%) three-pointers, their second-most makes during WSC play. Condon (4/8 3FG) accounted for nearly half of SBCC's threes and had a game-high three steals.

Santa Barbara also turned the ball over just seven times, a season-low. However, the Vaqueros made just one free throw all night and allowed Cuesta to shoot 54 percent from the field and 45 percent from distance.

Weingard's 17 points saw him reach double-figures for the seventh time in eight outings. He continues to lead SBCC in scoring this year with an average of 13.3 points per game, which ranks 10th in the WSC North. He also grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.

Off the bench, guard JJ Fain chipped in with 10 points, going 2-of-5 from deep. Forward Jon Pearson earned his second start of the season and finished with eight points (4/7 FG). Guard Elijah Simpson had four points, two steals and led all players with a season-high six assists.

SBCC went into the half down just a point, but Cuesta outscored the Vaqueros in the second half 33-28. This was the fourth time Santa Barbara has lost by six points or fewer during conference play.

This Saturday, the Vaqueros will play Allan Hancock at 5:00 p.m. in their penultimate home game of the season.
