Brycyn Gossett and Wilfrid Nado Named All-WSC

SANTA BARBARA – After helping the SBCC men's basketball team to its most wins since 2015-16, forward Brycyn Gossett and guard Wilfrid Nado both earned All-Western State Conference recognition.

Brycyn Gossett – All-WSC First Team
The Goleta, CA native started in 22 of his 23 appearances for the Vaqueros this past season, leading the team in both rebounds (5.1 rpg) and field goal percentage (.529) while scoring a third-leading 9.1 points per game. He was the only non-guard to average over a steal per game, coming away with 1.1 swipes on average. He was also second on the team in blocks (7).

Gossett was a beast on the offensive glass in particular, where he pulled down 2.7 boards per game. That mark was good for seventh in the entire WSC.

His 52.9 shooting percentage ranked eighth in the conference. He was also extremely reliable at the foul line, where he finished second on the team shooting 82.4 percent.

The former Dos Pueblos High School standout opened the year with six straight games grabbing more than six rebounds. On Dec. 10, he pulled down a season-high 10 boards, also scoring 18 points for his lone double-double of the year.

He would score 18 or more on two other occasions, including his career-best 26-point, 7-rebound outing on 12-of-20 shooting at Moorpark on Jan. 26.

Gossett is set to join a Westmont team in 2022-23 that has had a winning record every year since 1996-97.

Wilfrid Nado – All-WSC Honorable Mention
Guard Wilfrid Nado was one of three Vaqueros to appear in all 26 games in 2021-22, all while leading the team in minutes (26.7), total assists (76), free throws (82) and free throw percentage (.837) en route to an All-WSC Honorable Mention.

Nado was active on the glass as well, pulling in the third-most rebounds (98) on the team despite playing out on the perimeter.

The Vallejo, CA native saw his role in the backcourt expand as the year went on, becoming more of a distributor while finding balance with his potent offensive skill set. He scored in double-figures 11 times, second only to the team's leading scorer Adam Weingard (17).

Nado began the year with 12 points in a win over El Camino. Over his next 15 games, he would top that total just once, until he exploded for a Vaquero season-best 35 against Allan Hancock on Jan. 19. In that game, he knocked down 10-of-16 from the field, 3-of-5 from deep and 12-of-12 at the line.

He also had at least five assists six different times, including all three games of the SBCC Classic in December.
