SBCC shot 402 on Monday and took second in the first WSC men's golf meet on a windy day at Valencia Country Club. Canyons, the host school, topped the eight-team field at 367. Ventura was third at 424 and Citrus placed fourth at 425.

Felix Mory led the Vaqueros with a 4-over 76. Nick Rae shot 79 and Jackie Chan 80. Jonas Dahl of Canyons was the medalist at 70.

"There were gale-force winds, maybe 35-40 mph and swirling," said coach Chuck Melendez. "It makes it even tougher when you don't know the course. Everybody struggled, except for Canyons."

SBCC will host WSC No. 2 on Monday at The Alisal Ranch Course in Solvang.
