Andre-Fouet is medalist at 74; Vaqueros take second in WSC No. 2

Theo Andre-Fouet fired a 2-over 74 to tie for medalist honors on Monday and SBCC placed second in WSC men's golf tournament No. 2 at River Ridge GC in Oxnard.

Canyons earned its second straight conference win with a 378, beating the Vaqueros (389) by 11 shots. It was the highest finish of the year for SBCC. Ventura was third at 397 and Citrus took fourth with 399.

Canyons leads the WSC at 14-0, followed by Ventura (11-3), SBCC (10-4) and Glendale (8-6).

Andre-Fouet, a freshman from France, tied for first with Daniel Taplin and Michael Lindgren, both from Canyons. SBCC sophomore Niels Andersen tied for fifth with a 76. JB Jandro and Sean Mitton tied for 10th at 78, giving the Vaqueros four players in the top 10.

"Theo has played better and better as the season has progressed," said coach Chuck Melendez. "We had four guys in the 70s, which is good. We have a great deal of talent and I've been waiting for them to shine. Hopefully, this is an indication of better things to come."

The Vaqueros will play in WSC No. 3 on Monday at San Dimas Canyon GC at 11 a.m.
