SBCC placed fourth on Monday in the third WSC men's golf tournament on a cold, windy day at the Vaqueros' home course at Alisal Ranch in Solvang.

Canyons turned in a 379 and won by 24 shots over Hancock (393). Ventura was third at 396, followed closely by SBCC (398) and Glendale (399).

Gabe Cloquet, Felix Dine and Austin Duffy led Santa Barbara with 79s that earned them a tie for 12th place. Zack Silverman of Glendale was the medalist at 1-over 73.

"We didn't play super today," said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. "It was a cold day in the 50s with winds up to 25 mph, which made it difficult. Overall, we needed a few scores closer to par. It just wasn't our day."

Canyons won its second WSC tourney in three tries. The Cougars lead the nine-team race with a 22-2 record. Ventura is second at 20-4 and the Vaqueros are third (19-5).

Santa Barbara (34-18 overall) will play in WSC No. 4, hosted by Ventura, on Monday at 11 a.m. at River Ridge GC in Oxnard.
