Zach Steinberger shot a season-low 74 on Monday as SBCC took eighth in the Southern Cal Men's Golf Preview and second in WSC No. 5 at par-72 Bakersfield Country Club.
Steinberger, a freshman from Dos Pueblos High, tied for ninth in the So Cal event and second in the WSC.
Orange Coast captured the 16-team Southern Cal tourney with 365 strokes, beating Palomar and Cypress by 13 strokes. Riverside was fourth at 379 and Canyons took fifth at 382. The Vaqueros were eighth at 391.
Jacob Montes of Palomar was the medalist with a 3-under 69.
Canyons won its fourth straight WSC tourney at 382. The Vaqueros were second, nine strokes back at 391. Glendale (394) took third and Ventura (396) was fourth.
Angelo Keklikian of Glendale was the WSC medalist at 73, one stroke better than five players, including Steinberger. Felix Dine added a 77 for SBCC and Gabe Cloquet shot 78.
Canyons leads the WSC with a 38-2 record. SBCC is tied for second with Ventura at 32-8 and Glendale is fourth at 23-17.
The Vaqueros will compete in WSC No. 6 on Monday at Antelope Valley Country Club in Palmdale.
