Vaqueros capture WSC No. 1 by 14 shots, improve to 32-1

All six SBCC players shot between 76 and 81 on Monday and the Vaqueros claimed the first WSC men's golf tournament at Bakersfield Country Club.

The Vaqueros totaled 386 strokes, 14 better than Canyons (400) in the nine-team field. Ventura was third at 403 and Glendale took fourth with a 420.

SBCC is off to one of its best starts ever with a 32-1 record and two tourney titles.

Theo Andre-Fouet and Trent Caraher both carded 76 to tie for third in the 47-player field. Caraher, a sophomore from Chicago, tied his career-low score.

Canyons took the first two individual spots with Nobuhiko Wakaari shooting 74 and Jules Laingen 75. SBCC's Brant Schenk and Skyler Booth were in a four-way tie for fifth at 77.

SBCC was supposed to play in the Mt. San Jacinto Eagle Classic on Wednesday but that's been postponed by rain. The Vaqueros will host WSC No. 2 on Monday, Feb. 18 at the Alisal Ranch Course in Solvang with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m.
