Jandro is medalist at 74; Vaqueros win second straight WSC tourney

JB Jandro shot 74 on Monday to earn SBCC's first medalist honor and the Vaqueros topped Canyons for their second straight conference win in WSC No. 9 at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale.

Jandro, a sophomore from Palos Verdes, tied his career low and tied Anguerrand Voisin of Canyons for medalist honors at 2-over 74. Preston Gomersall tied for third with a 75 and Theo Andre-Fouet tied for sixth at 76.

The Vaqueros totaled 381 strokes to beat Canyons by six shots. Glendale was third at 391 and Ventura held off Bakersfield for fourth (405-408).

It was the third WSC win of the year for the Vaqueros and their fourth win overall.

Trent Caraher and Gabe Cloquet added 78s for SBCC, helping the Vaqueros move within one game of Canyons in the WSC standings. The Cougars are 67-5, the Vaqueros are 66-6 and Ventura is 54-18.

SBCC (120-15 overall) will play in the WSC Finals, which features 36 holes of golf and the last two WSC events (Nos. 10 and 11).That tourney will be held on Monday at Soule Park in Ojai.
