Glendale scored a goal midway through each half on Tuesday night to hold off SBCC, 2-0, in a non-conference men's soccer match at Glendale College.

It was the first loss of the year for Santa Barbara (2-1-1). Glendale improved to 3-4.

Andrew Senane opened the scoring in the 20th minute and GCC led 1-0 at halftime. Alan Trujillo made it 2-0 at 68:21, taking a pass from Wilmer Bonilla and beating the keeper.

The Glendale Vaqueros outshot the SBCC Vaqueros 14-9, including 10-7 in the second half. The visiting Vaqueros were whistled for 16 fouls while Glendale only received four.

"We controlled possession well and had the ball for a good part of the game," said assistant coach Christy Gates-Bowes. "We had a hard time breaking down a compact and organized Glendale team and didn't create enough chances in the final third.

"When you don't take your chances and don't create enough going forward, it can cost you."

Alexander Foy, a 6-4 sophomore defender from Liverpool, England, was solid for Santa Barbara, according to Gates-Bowes.

The Vaqueros will travel to No. 8 Taft on Friday and play in the second half of a doubleheader. The SBCC women will battle Taft at 2 p.m., followed by the men's clash at 4 p.m.
