SBCC scored two goals in the last 11 minutes on Friday to rally past Canyons 2-1 in a non-conference men's soccer match in Santa Clarita.

Canyons (1-5-1) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Ruben Rodriguez-Vega in the 68th minute, ending the Vaqueros' 268-minute scoreless streak (just shy of three games).

Hans Nordin tied it up on a header at 79:09, taking a long pass from Jose Reyes and beating the keeper. Adam Chenoweth, a freshman defender from Santa Barbara High, got the game-winner on a free kick at 87:44, just minutes before the final whistle.

It was the first goal of the year for both Nordin, a freshman from Sweden, and Chenoweth.

The 20th-ranked Vaqueros (5-1-1) dominated the shot chart, enjoying a 10-3 first-half advantage and 18-6 for the game. It was the third straight win for Santa Barbara, which has only allowed five goals in seven games.

"We dominated the first half and the second half was more of the same until a defensive slip-up allowed Canyons to score a simple tap-in goal," said coach John Sisterson. "We didn't lose our heads. Jose Reyes, who came on as a sub, drove a great 30-yard ball for Hans to score on a header from 10 yards out.

"Christopher Robinson had been a thorn in Canyons' side and he drove in with the ball and was fouled on the edge of the box. Adam took the free kick and bent it around the wall for a great goal."

The Vaqueros will host Chaffey on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
