Vaqueros move up to 8th in Regional, will host Santa Ana on Saturday

Due to an ineligible player, Desert has dropped down in the Southern Cal Regional men's soccer playoffs and SBCC is the beneficiary, moving up to the No. 8 seed and getting a home match instead of traveling to Palm Desert.

The Vaqueros will host Santa Ana (10-6-4) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Dons finished fourth in the Orange Empire Conference and the Vaqueros were fourth in the WSC North.    

The Vaqueros (10-4-5) are making their third straight trip to the Regional.

Santa Barbara is 3-1-1 in its last five games and 7-1-3 at home this year. The Vaqueros have outscored their opponents 33-24 for the season.

Christopher Robinson leads the Vaqueros in scoring with seven goals and Kyle Nicklaw has five. Santa Ana's top scorer is Gilberto Garcia with eight goals and two assists.

Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $8 for students (with valid ID), staff/faculty, senior citizens (60+) and children under 12 years of age. Only CCCAA-approved passes will be honored.

The winner of Saturday's game will play the winner of No. 16 Norco at No. 1 Mt. SAC on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Desert dropped to the No. 11 seed and will play at WSC champion and No. 6 seed Oxnard on Saturday.
