SBCC won every set on Tuesday and cruised past L.A. Pierce 9-0 for its first men's tennis victory of the season in Woodland Hills. It was the first win in three years for the Vaqueros (1-4, 1-0), who revived their team this year after a two-year hiatus, and their first WSC win.
Sasha Hedberg, a sophomore from Oxnard High, made his season debut and swept Nick Kerhulas at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Derek Lipanski, a sophomore from Turlock, Calif., also made his debut and won at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0 and teamed with Ryan Chung for a 9-8 (7-4) double win.
The Vaqueros make their home debut on Thursday when they host defending WSC champion Ventura at 2 p.m.
