Vaqueros down Pierce for second time, 9-0

SBCC opened the second round of WSC men's tennis action on Tuesday the same way it started the first, with a 9-0 win over L.A. Pierce.

The shutout came on the Pershing Park courts in the Vaqueros' penultimate home match of the year. SBCC improved to 4-5 and 4-1 in the WSC with its third straight win. Pierce fell to 0-7 and 0-5.

Emerson Sekban, Andrew Tufenkian, Parker Turek and Willem Decker all posted singles and doubles wins. Tufenkian rallied for a 1-6, 6-0, 7-5 victory at No. 2 singles while Turek/Decker recorded a 9-8 doubles triumph, taking the tiebreaker 7-4.

The Vaqueros travel to first-place Ventura (4-0) on Thursday for a 2 p.m. match.
