Saddleback hands Vaqueros a 7-2 setback

Saddleback went 5-1 in singles on Friday on the way to a 7-2 win over SBCC on the Pershing Park courts.

Diego Santos got both points for the Vaqueros (3-6), winning the No. 3 singles 6-2, 7-5 and rallying to take the No. 2 doubles, 9-7, under the lights. Saddleback improved to 8-2.

"We got a lot of good energy from Diego Santos," said coach Randy Moharram. "As a group, I thought we fought hard. They are a very good team and I'm happy our guys played at a higher level in response. It shows a lot of pride and competitiveness. This is marking us stronger as a unit."

Spencer Ekola dropped a tough three-setter at No. 2 singles, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 and No. 4 Adolfo Ortega also lost in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
