Daurelle/Fumat get decisive point in 5-4 win

SBCC took the first four singles points on Tuesday and then turned to its top doubles team to pull out a 5-4 men's  tennis victory at Bakersfield.

Guillaume Daurelle outlasted Kaleb Johnson 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in a 2 1/2-hour marathon at No. 1 singles, then teamed with No. 2 Pierre Alexandre Fumat for an 8-0 shutout and the fifth point at No. 1 doubles.

Fumat, Albert Chami and Sebastian Moenster won in straight sets for the other three singles points.

It was the second  straight win for the Vaqueros (4-5, 2-2 WSC). The Renegades fell to 4-5 and 1-2.

Santa Barbara will hit the road on March 2-3 for nonconference matches at San Diego Mesa (Friday at noon) and Cypress (Saturday at noon).
