Guillaume Daurelle won his Round of 32 match easily on Friday morning, then ran into the No. 1 seed in the CCCAA Men's Tennis State Championships at Rio Mesa High.

The 11th-seeded Daurelle downed Dimitrije Vukovic of Desert 6-3, 6-0 to advance to the Round of 16. Kent Hunter, the No. 1 seed from state team champion Cerritos, took down Daurelle 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Arthur Scharff and Albert Chami made a great comeback in the Round of 32 before losing a tough 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 decision to No. 4 Adrien Etiemble/Priyank Soni from Ventura.

"We lost the first set and we were down 4-1 in the second," said coach Chris McBride. "Our guys fought back to take it to the breaker. They fell two points short of a big upset. I'm proud of how they competed."
