Defending state champion Cerritos knocks off Vaqueros, 9-0

Cerritos spoiled the men's tennis debut of SBCC on Friday with a 9-0 win at Pershing Park.

The Falcons went 28-2 last year and beat American River 5-0 for the state team title at Ventura College.

Andres Decock, SBCC's No. 1 player from Belgium, teamed up with Dominic Signorello of Holland in doubles and dropped a tight 8-6 decision.

SBCC has an all-new lineup and only five were eligible for Friday's opener. The Vaqueros had to forfeit two matches and a then they forfeited a third after Ronan Casteleyn was injured in doubles and couldn't play his No. 4 singles match.

The Vaqueros will play at Riverside next Friday, starting at 2 p.m.
