BAKERSFIELD, CA - Santa Barbara City College Men's Tennis traveled to Bakersfield for a conference match on Tuesday afternoon.

The doubles matches were tightly contested.

Bakersfield took down the #1 SBCC team of Mauritz Seitz and Dominic Arnell while Santa Barbara evened it with a #3 victory with Ada Guler and Matias Lapidus.

The 3rd doubles point was the closest match of the day with SBCC sophomores Daniel Truong and Connor Schloemer having a bit of a slow start, going down 3-5. At that point, the Vaqueros began to string together points where their positioning and shot making put pressure on the Renegades doubles team of Yackovic and Wu. The Vaqs tightened up their serve games and held without too much trouble and finally broke back late in the pro set.  The tiebreaker featured solid fundamentals, and Schloemer took charge on high quality return of serves as the Vaqs won the set 9-7.

The Renegades took the top 3 singles matches while the Vaqueros closed out positions #4-6 with Ada Guler, Daniel Truong and Connor Schloemer.

"That match I felt really great," Schloemer said. "All of my shots were clean and my serve was as good as it could be. It almost felt like I was unstoppable with the way I was playing and attacking the ball."

The Vaqueros are 2-2 on the season, and play two home conference matches next Tuesday vs Glendale and Thursday vs Bakersfield.
