SANTA BARBARA, CA - SBCC hosted Glendale in a WSC North conference matchup on Tuesday.

Santa Barbara had an uneven start in #1 and #2 doubles positions falling behind 0-5 at #1 and 0-7 at #2.  SBCC managed to not panic and both top Vaqueros teams then found their rhythm. Mauritz Seitz/Matias Lapidus and Daniel Truong/Connor Schloemer made valiant comebacks in their doubles pro sets. Glendale closed out #1 and #2 doubles 8-6 and 8-5, respectively.

SBCC dubs #3 Dominic Arnell and Ada Guler recovered well after a slow start and played well together especially late in the set when Arnell came up with big tenacious defensive plays.

Singles matches were well contested. #1 SBCC Freshman Mauritz Seitz served with great efficiency and variety and kept steady pressure on his opponent's serve with consistent serve return plus one patterns. Seitz defeated Glendale's Ridaoui 6-3, 6-2.

"One of Mauritz's strengths is his physicality, and he did a very good job today of keeping the rally balls deep and attacking short balls effectively," head coach Danny Echt said. "Mauritz has a great foundational game with solid mobility and he makes his opponents work long and hard to earn points."

SBCC's #3, #5 and #6 were long grueling matches, two of which were decided in the 3rd set. Glendale won 5 out of the 6 singles sets. The quality of the singles matches up and down the ladder today was excellent.

SBCC plays at home versus Bakersfield Thursday at 2 PM.
