GLENDALE, CA - Santa Barbara City College Men's Tennis traveled to Glendale this afternoon for a WSC-North conference match up.

The doubles start for the Vaqueros was uneven and lacked the necessary energy as all three teams had difficulty establishing rhythm.

On the bright side, SBCC #2 duo of Connor Schloemer and Dominic Arnell rallied off five straight games after being down 3-5 to win their pro set 8-5. It is nice to see teammates communicate well and help one another out as Dom and Connor did very well today. Ultimately, Dom's solid return of serves and groundies enabled Connor to close the net well as Connor volleyed intelligently to keep high pressure on the opponents.

The singles presented more of a struggle on the Vaqueros' part, as holding serve today was not our strength. Credit to the Glendale team for putting more balls in play. SBCC #6 singles Ada Guler fought well after a sloppy start and he showed grit by winning the second set. Guler and his opponent played a physical third set of good quality as Guler held off 4 match points but ultimately fell 1-6, 6-4, 4-6.

"I am confident that the Vaqueros will learn from today and become a better team," head coach Danny Echt said.

American River College travels to SBCC on Saturday at 10 am for a non-conference match.
