Danny Echt

Danny Echt

Danny Echt was hired as head coach of the SBCC men's tennis heading into the 2022 season. In his first year with the Vaqueros, the team finished third in the Western State Conference, posting a 3-6 overall and 2-2 conference record and making it to the SoCal Regional Quarterfinals. SBCC's No. 1 doubles team of Taylor Kleine and Menno Raeymaekers advanced from the round of 64 all the way to the quarterfinals of the state doubles tournament before falling to the eventual champs from College of the Desert.

As a teaching professional and an accomplished coach with over twenty years of coaching experience, Coach Echt has expertise in helping competitive junior and adult players advance to the next level. He joined the Vaqueros after serving as a head tennis coach at Santa Barbara High School since 2017.

For more than two decades, Coach Echt taught privately at Knowlwood Tennis Club.  Additionally, he is involved in running tournaments for adults and juniors in conjunction with the Tennis Patrons of Santa Barbara.

Echt, who graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 1990, joined the Vaqueros with a stated eagerness to help build the SBCC program, planning to bring a dynamic leadership style, tactical insight, and positivity to SBCC.
