Cameo Goree won the 200-meter race on Friday and SBCC placed fourth in the WSC North men's track and field meet on a rainy day at Bakersfield College.

Goree, a freshman from Fresno, was clocked in 22.53. The Vaqueros had three other winners – Bas van Leersum in the 400 hurdles (56.45), Scott Santella in the javelin (46.09 meters) and Brent Walker in the high jump (1.70m).

Canyons won the six-team meet with 218 points, followed by Hancock (119), Ventura (110) and SBCC (102).

"We sat out some key men today, but still competed tough and came away with four wins," said coach Scott Fickerson. "Our focus was on executing our plan and not letting the weather get to us."

On Friday, March 14, SBCC will compete at the Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton and the Occidental Distance Carnival in Eagle Rock.
