SBCC's Anton Nilsson cruised to victory in the 400 hurdles on Saturday at the Westmont Collegiate Classic men's track and field meet.

Nilsson, a freshman from Sweden, ran a PR of 53.39 to win the 400 hurdles by 4.23 seconds. That ties him for the second-fastest time in SBCC history with Chad Freeman (2006) and it's the No. 2 time in the state this year. He also took fourth in the 100 meters in 11.37.

The meet featured a host of four-year schools, including UCSB, Westmont, George Fox (Ore.), Linfield (Ore.) and Whittier. George Fox won the meet with 162.5 points and the Vaqueros were second with 58.

Joseph Ochoa was second in the shot put and discus with season bests of 13.36 and 39.65 meters, respectively. Edward Jones posted PRs in the discus (38.74m, 3rd) and javelin (47.18, 11th), which was a personal record by more than 30 feet.

Robert Roberson was fifth in the high jump (1.81m) and sixth in the long jump (6.31m). Cameron Shinn was first in the triple jump (12.93m) and fifth in the long jump (6.35m).

Alex Ramirez placed fifth in the 1500 (4:01.55) and 11th in the 800 (2:00.64).

The Vaqueros will host the Easter Relays on Friday at La Playa Stadium.
