Anton Nilsson placed fifth in the 400 hurdles on Saturday, leading four SBCC qualifiers in the Southern Cal Men's Track & Field Prelims at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster.

The weather was 65 degrees and the 20-25 mph winds had an effect on the competitors.

Nilsson, a freshman from Sweden, was second in his heat in 55.78. Alex Ramirez took sixth in the 1500 in 4:12.78, Cameron Shinn was seventh in the triple jump (13.92 meters) and Bradley Apodaca previously qualified for the 5000 final.

The foursome will compete in the Southern Cal Finals on Saturday, May 14 at AVC.

Apodaca finished seventh in the 10,000 in 32:36.37, missing a qualifying berth by one place.
