Shinn, Nilsson place ninth in CCCAA State Championships

Cameron Shinn and Anton Nilsson of SBCC finished ninth on Saturday against some of the top athletes in the nation in the CCCAA Men's Track & Field State Championships at San Diego Mesa College.

Shinn, a freshman from San Marcos High, covered 13.44 meters in the triple jump (44 feet, 1 1/8 inches). Zain Palacio of West Los Angeles was the winner at 15.03 meters.

Nilsson, a freshman from Huddinge, Sweden, took ninth in the 400 hurdles in 54.75. Dylan Atencio of Mt. SAC was first in 51.50.

Mt. SAC won its second straight men's title, beating Riverside 148-99. On the women's side, Cerritos topped Riverside 92-80 to claim its third state title in four years.
