Nnoli, Cozza go 1-2 in the jumps at Westmont Classic

Brian Nnoli won the triple jump on Saturday to improve to 4-0 on the season and Kyle Cozza took second in the long jump at the Westmont Collegiate Classic track & field meet.

Nnoli, a sophomore from San Marcos High, jumped 14.17 meters (46-5¾) to beat athletes from four-year schools like Westmont and George Fox of Oregon. Jonathan Wilson of George Fox was a distant second at 13.28m. SBCC's Nicolas Murillo-Perez took fourth at 13.02.

Cozza covered 6.67 meters (21 feet, 10½  inches) and was edged by Moorpark's Reece Smith (6.72m). Nathan Brooks was third in the 200 (22.81) and Drew Klassen placed fifth in the discus with a personal best of 38.60m.

"This was our best meet of the year and the majority of our athletes achieved season bests," said coach Scott Santella.

The Vaqueros will compete in the WSC Coastal Meet on Friday at Cuesta, starting at 10 a.m.
