Brian Nnoli turned in the second-best jump of his career on Friday to capture the triple jump in the WSC Track & Field Finals at Moorpark College.

The 6-4 sophomore from San Marcos High covered 14.52 meters (47-7¾) to beat Joseph Anderson of West Los Angeles by 1 foot, 3¾ inches. Nnoli is undefeated this year and Friday was his seventh straight win.

He missed his PR by less than half an inch. He set his PR of 14.53 meters in last year's State meet where he finished third.

Sean Fitzgerald placed third in the 400 hurdles in 55.77, eclipsing his season best by 2.04 seconds. Lam Nguyen was eighth in the triple jump with a personal best of 12.89m (42-3½), nearly a meter farther than he's ever jumped.

The 4x100 team of Nathan Brooks, Nicolas Murillo-Perez, Sean Fitzgerald and Lam Nguyen placed sixth to qualify for the Southern Cal Prelims next Saturday at Riverside College.

"We currently have seven men who qualified for So Cal with 3 more on the cusp as first alternates," said coach Scott Santella.
