Brian Nnoli took third in the triple jump on Saturday in the Southern Cal Finals men's track & field meet at Riverside College to qualify for the State Finals for the second straight year.

Nnoli, a sophomore from San Marcos, was third in last year's State Finals. He jumped 14.33 meters (47-0¼) on his fifth attempt on Saturday to place third behind Titus Houston of Cerritos (14.66m) and Joseph Anderson of West L.A. (14.43).

It was the first loss of the year for Nnoli, who's 7-1 in the triple jump this season.

Giulio Giordani, a freshman from Santa Ynez, tied for fourth in the pole vault at 4.45m (14-7¼) and finished seventh due to more misses.

Riverside topped the 23-team field with 212 points. Mt. SAC was a distant second at 110 and Cerritos was six points behind in third (104).

The CCCAA State Championships will be staged next Friday and Saturday at College of San Mateo.
