Last jump vaults Nnoli into 3rd in State triple jump for 2nd straight year

For the second straight year, Brian Nnoli recorded his best triple jump on his sixth and final attempt on a rainy Saturday to capture third in the 69th annual CCCAA Men's Track & Field State Championships at College of San Mateo.

The 6-4 sophomore from San Marcos High went 14.18 meters (46-6¼) on his final try to edge Joseph Anderson of West Los Angeles by ¾ of an inch and earn All-American honors with his second straight third-place effort.

Nnoli was in third for most of the competition after covering 14.02 meters (46-0) on his first attempt. Anderson turned in a 14.16-meter leap on his sixth jump to move into third place. Ten minutes later, Nnoli notched his best jump of the day to edge Anderson by .02 meters.

Trey Pierce of Diablo Valley won the 12-man competition with a hop, step and jump of 14.55 meters (47-9). Juwan Seales of San Joaquin Delta also surpassed 47 feet to take second at 14.34 (47-0¾).

Riverside ran away with the team title, totaling 116 points to claim its 10th state championship and first since 2008-14 when the Tigers won six of seven. Mt. SAC was second at 73, American River took third at 61 and Sequoias was fourth with 57.
