L.A. Pierce topples Vaqueros 3-1

SBCC took the first set, then L.A. Pierce claimed the next three on Friday night in a 3-1 WSC North men's volleyball win in Woodland Hills. The scores were 18-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-18.

Sean Reynaert paced the Vaqueros (4-11, 1-2) by posting a career-high 17 kills for the second straight match. He hit .341 and also had eight digs. Quinlan Dougherty added eight kills and five digs in the final match of the first round of conference play.

The Brahmas, ranked No. 7 in California, improved to 10-5 and 2-1.

Stephen Trevitt had six kills and a season-high 14 digs. Jonathan Baldwin contributed 35 assists and nine digs.

"It was an exciting match for both teams with lots of firepower," said Vaquero coach Jon Newton. "The guys battled and played with a lot of heart. It was a good thing to see."

The Vaqueros travel to first-place Moorpark (7-9, 3-0) on Friday, April 7 at 6 p.m.
