Orange Coast College, the second-ranked team in the CCCAA, was too much to handle for fourth-ranked Santa Barbara City College as the Pirates topped SBCC, 3-0 on their home court Wednesday night.

After taking on top-ranked Long Beach City College on the road in their previous match, the Vaqueros (6-3) headed on the road again to face OCC, whose only two losses on the year have come at the hands of Long Beach.

OCC topped SBCC by score of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-16 to sweep the Vaqueros.

"Unfortunately, our passing and defense were not at the level they had been this season and didn't give our offense a chance to compete with the number two ranked team in the state," said head coach Jon Newton.  "That being said, Kyle (Skinner) had some great swings on the night for us.  We are just going to have to move on from this and get ready for the next match this week."

Skinner paced the Vaqueros with seven kills while Cameron Fry recorded three blocks and Adam Simonetti had 18 assists.

SBCC is on the road again in their next match as they take on Santiago Canyon on Friday, March 9.  Game time is set for 6:00 p.m..
