Skinner, Lockhart spark No. 5 Vaqueros to 3-1 road win

Kyle Skinner and Blake Lockhart combined for 28 kills and a .426 hitting percentage on Friday as No. 5 SBCC topped Antelope Valley 3-1 in Lancaster. The scores were 25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 25-20.

The Vaqueros (11-4, 3-1 WSC North) hit .437 and won for the fifth time in six matches. The Marauders fell to 4-10 and 0-4.

Skinner, a 6-4 sophomore from Santa Barbara High, had 15 kills, seven digs, three aces and hit .360. Lockhard, a 6-6 freshman from Santa Ynez High, added 13 kills and a .500 percentage. Haward Gomes had nine kills.

Misaki Cramer led in digs with 14 and setter Adam Simonetti dished out 44 assists.

"This was a good road win as we move through conference," said second-year head coach Jon Newton. "We now move forward and focus on two big matches next week to end conference."

The Vaqueros travel to No. 7 L.A. Pierce (9-6, 4-0) for a first-place showdown on Wednesday at 6 p.m., then complete the regular season by hosting No. 9 Moorpark on Friday at 6 p.m.
