SANTA BARBARA – On Tuesday, the SBCC men's volleyball team opened its 2022 season at the Sports Pavilion against Orange Coast, falling in three sets, 25-21, 25-15, 25-23.
The Vaqueros were held to a .030 hitting percentage, led offensively by outside hitter Jackson Dupler (6 kills) and opposite Kevin Vonyokes (4). Both players had a team-high seven total points, as Vonyokes also finished with two aces and a block.
Outside hitter Arie Padmos went for a pair of aces as well. SBCC had seven as a team.
Middle blocker Tobias Murphree went for three kills and a block on a team-best .400 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Kayode Lovejoy-Hall led the way with two blocks to go along with two kills.
Santa Barbara will be on the road for its next two matches, against Palomar on Friday (3:00 PM) and Grossmont on Saturday (11:00 AM).
