Ramirez takes 18th in SBCC Invitational

Alex Ramirez, Adam Grimmitt and Bradley Apodaca ran in a pack throughout the SBCC Invitational men's cross country race on Friday and managed to finish with 19 seconds of each other at Leadbetter Beach and Shoreline Park.

Ramirez was 18th in the 23:33 on the challenging 4-mile course that features sand, hills, streets and grass. Grimmitt took 22nd in 23:43 and Apodaca was 27th in 23:54. Sean McDermott of Cuesta claimed the individual title, running 22:09 in 95-degree heat.

Mt. San Antonio, ranked No. 2 in the state, easily won the team title with 31 points. No. 7 Glendale was second with 75. SBCC finished eighth in the 14-team field.

The Vaqueros return to action on Friday at the Mt. SAC Invitational in Walnut.
